As many times as this has happened in the past, one would hope that people would learn. Kudos to the crew for not turning a blind eye. From CNN.com and other sources:

British police said they stopped a United Airlines pilot from flying while intoxicated earlier this week, pulling him from a Boeing 767 aircraft at London's Heathrow airport and charging him with being on duty while his blood-alcohol level was over the limit.

On Saturday morning I am scheduled to fly Delta from DCA to SFO with a connection at ATL. I will spend the night at the Four Points by Sheraton near the airport. On Sunday I am scheduled to fly from SFO to DCA with a connection at JFK, also on Delta. Come on upgrades.

On Saturday morning I am scheduled to fly AA from IAD to SFO with a connection at DFW. This is a day trip. I am scheduled to fly home from SFO just after midnight Saturday night and and connect at DFW on my way back to IAD. This is the last of my cheap SFO trips on AA and secures my second tier status for another year.

An era ended at United Airlines on 28 October as the carrier operated its last Boeing 737 passenger flight, more than 40 years after introducing the twinjet.

Flight 737, operated by 737-300 N331UA, took off from Washington Dulles and made what amounted to a farewell tour with stops at all the carrier's hubs - Chicago, Denver and Los Angeles, with the final touchdown at its San Francisco maintenance base.

It's time for me to renew my driver's license again (it seems like I just did it) and I'm trying to decide whether it's worth the extra money ($45) and inconvenient (can't renew by mail) to opt for an enhanced license so I won't need to carry my passport when transiting Canada or traveling to other nearby neighbors (Mexico, Bermuda, Caribbean). Have any of you gotten one? If so, do you feel it was worth the effort? If not, why, and do you regret it?
