They probably had plenty of rest period, but just didn't use it for sleeping.

I'm also wonder whether the local time of the accident (0333L) was as significant as this report suggests. The relevant circadian low would have been that of the crew's body clocks, not local time. I will have to have a read to see where the crew was based.
