Globaliser- your neighbor may have gotten the FT delivered because it's so much cheaper- and the reason subscriptions are cheaper is that then they can sell their subscriber list.
Not with the FT. As a personal subscriber, you pay an extra £2 a week over the cover price to have home delivery.

In any event, the selling of subscriber lists is not as lucrative here as it is in the US because of our privacy laws. You always have the right to require that your details are not passed on to any other organisations, and many reputable organisations here will never pass on your details outside their own organisations - and make a particular point of this as a selling point for doing business with them. And although I don't have the details of the recommended practices, almost all reputable companies will always give you a specific choice when you do business as to whether you allow them to pass on your details to other companies (as opposed to requiring you to write in afterwards to withdraw your consent).

And increasingly, people are aware of these rights and make use of them.
