The St. Louis part hurts. I went to school in Missouri and in those days the TWA STL hub was simply one of the largest airline hubs in the United States. 747s, L-1011s and 767s by the hordes and lots of 727s and MD-80s to fill in the gaps. When I first came to Missouri it was prior to the Ozark merger, so the St. Louis airport was an amazing place to watch airplanes. Things got less interesting once the Ozark merger went through, but the heavies still came in droves. I was through there last year and American's presence was paltry, although they did field a few 757s at least. It will get even worse. At least they have Southwest.
