That Maine Mid-Coast Region is my favorite part of the state, in fact one of my very favorite places in the United States.

I've had a theory for many years that for a lot of food items, the larger they are, the worse they taste. This particularly applies to the vegetable community, but I've also found the same to be true for a lot of seafood items. We camped up in Nova Scotia a number of years ago and wanted to purchase some lobsters for dinner from a local lobster pound. We got there late and were disappointed to find all they had left were 3/4 pounds ones (I don't think it's even legal to sell lobsters that small in the U.S.). We reluctantly bought some of those small guys - and once we tapped into them they were the best lobsters we'd ever had. Tender, succulent and sweet. We normally buy 1.25-1.5 pound lobsters here in Connecticut, but a local grocery store has been selling lobsters just over a pound for $3.99 a pound. We've bought them twice so far and they've been outstanding.
