No camera trickery here, it was a double rainbow, and a full one at that - you could clearly see both ends of it. Pretty remarkable. The shot was taken from Seminary Ridge, looking east across the field where many Confederate soldiers would die as part of Pickett's Charge toward the Federal stronghold on Cemetery Ridge. That's Round Top on the right and Little Round Top on the left, two of the key Federal positions during the battle. The Confederate soldiers marched from near where I was standing across the field toward those positions. The results were not pretty.

You mentioned you were thinking of taking your kids to Gettysburg. I HIGHLY recommend it. Before this visit I knew very little about the battle; in fact I'm not even sure I knew which side won. The Visitor's Center does an outstanding job of examining every aspect and strategy of the battle, and we bought a $20 CD that guided us through the driving tour. Very much worthwhile.
