However, since this urban legend has surfaced Eagles has maintained that the song Hotel California was based on a fictitious place they came up with and the song is not based on the actual location in existence.

Despite my earlier comment, I'm a fan of The Eagles and growing up, Hotel California ranked among my favorite albums. I saw a live version of the song Hotel California filmed in the 1970s on VH1 Classic the other night. For me it's strange to see a lead singer playing drums (Phil Collins played the same role in Genesis). The Eagles certainly weren't the most dynamic live act around, what with Henley sitting down at his drum set and the rest of the crew just standing there and playing their instruments, but they sounded good, and I suppose that's what is most important.

The hotel shown on the cover of the album Hotel California is the Beverly Hills Hotel. They sure make it look exotic in the picture, but in reality it's in the middle of a big mess of urban sprawl.

Back on track to the thread, thanks for sharing the pictures. That part of Mexico looks as if it would be worth a visit. The only foray I've made into Baja California was a driving trip down to Ensenada I made with my sister about ten years ago. We stopped for dinner at Rosarito Beach, which seemed like a nice enough place. How polluted is the water off the coast of BC? I seem to recall San Diego politicians complaining about the Mexican pollution coming up their way, but that's probably Tijuana sewer effluent vs. stuff coming from further south.
