I was in Lakewood New Jersey today. There are more "orthodox" Jews there than anyplace I've ever seen in the US, outside of NYC. They are easily the majority population in town. Coming out of services Saturday the streets were a veritable sea of black hats and prayer shawls.

It made me wonder if soon the NY Times will get ahold of some pics and start turning the observant Jews (the word THEY use to describe themselves, though they fight like cats and dogs about what "observant" really means) into the Jewish Amish, you know, using words like "quaint", "atmospheric" etc?
