This morning's Washington Post has an article on restaurants in Philadelphia that have a BYOB policy for wine.
Philadelphia's BYO Revolution
I like the idea because I do not like to pay the price for a bottle of wine that I can buy in my local store for one-third the price. Even a moderate corking fee would be fine.
Here is the policy for DC, Virginia, and Maryland: Navigating Washington's Cork Control
What are the policies in your areas - if there is one?
I experience this in a restaurant in Boston - No Name- back about 25 years ago when it was a hole-in-the-wall. They had no liquor license then, so people stood in line to get in with coolers of beer and wine. Of course, when I went, I did not know that it was BYOB, so we drank soda. Next time I went there a number of years later, they had their liquor license.
