6/2....after seeing the spectacular surf and getting some good movie shots, we had to press on.
Forgot to mention that we had visited a Macadamia Plantation prior to getting around to the Surfing area. This part of the tour was interesting. We were taken on a boat ride around a lake used for aquaculture, its got heaps of fish in it, from Tilapia to Barracuda, but did'nt see any. At the Macadamia plantation you drive through the plantation with the various tropical trees and fruits pointed out to you along the way. At the actual shop it was nice to sample all the different coatings they put on Macadamias, like Garlic, Cinnamon, Coffee etc. My favourite was Coffee. We purchased a packet and thought we would not be able get it back to Oz.(very tough on what can be brought into Australia)
Purchased some Oils of Aloha Kukui skin products for the Cherub who suffers from Eczema.
Next Dole Plantation....with everybody queueing for something Pineapple. We opted for Pineapple Icecream.
Then we had a long drive back to Waikiki....with about an hour stuck in a traffic jam on Nimitz Highway.
Arrived back at our hotel at 5.30 pm.
We decided to try on a recommendation from a friend, the restaurant at the Halekulani called "House without a key". This was by far the best meal we had in Honolulu. The meals a lovely cafe' style and are the right size for us and are not fatty. The staff are excellent and in this case one does'nt mind giving a tip for excellent service. Very nice setting with entertainment (ukelele's). We got there at the right time to watch the sun go down.
We had dip (mixed dips and breads), Mr Jebbo had Caesar Salad, I had Chicken Caesar Salad and this was enough - cost for this nice atmosphere and ambience (included four glasses of wine for Mr Jebbo) $84.34.
Walked back along foreshore to Royal Hawaiian and Mr Jebbo decided he wanted to go to the Bar there and have a Mai Tai, I decided I wanted to do something for my friends back home, so I headed for the International market and purchased 10 teatowel, and potholder sets of all different colours of Hawaiian hibiscus with different coloured main backgrounds - cost $5.99 each.
By the time I got back it was 9.30 and Mr Jebbo was not far behind. We packed our bags and arranged a wake-up call for 7am as we had arranged a shuttle pick up for 7.45 through the concierge - cost $9 one way.
