This was a trip within a trip. First, UA from BWI to LAS: BWI-DEN-LAS with a return eight days later: LAS-ORD-BWI. Here is the DL part: LAS-SLC-PHX; PHX-LAX-LAS.
I spent my first LAS night at a Fairfield Inn on Paradise Road. Then I flew over to PHX where I stayed at the also familiar Aloft Hotel on Washington Street. I used the convenient and thrifty public transit system to get around (age based discount). I enjoyed a good meal at the Loving Hut restaurant on Indian School Road. Love the sunshine in and by the pool.
I flew over to LAX to pick up my Hertz car. Memo to self: avoid Hertz at LAX. I waited a half an hour for a car that was unacceptable (this is Gold service?). My Chevy Malibu's trunk would not open and the front drivers seat adjustment bar was missing. My belly was pressed against the steering wheel. I waited another half hour for a Toyota Prius. Not my first choice but nothing smaller than a pick up truck was available. I drove down to Carslbad and the Courtyard Hotel there. On the way I had a nice meal at the Veggie Grill.
My next stop was the Sheraton Hotel at Ontario. I had two great meals at the Bright Star Vegan Thai restaurant where I had eaten before on a trip two years ago. I also enjoyed my time at the hotel pool. One vegan restaurant on Foothill Drive had closed.
I then drove back to LAX to turn in the car along with a ten mile motorcade to honor a fallen law enforcement guy.
I flew back to LAX the same day as my red eye to EWR where I changed planes for BWI.
I was happy to use public transit from my house to BWI and back. So green. So thrifty.
